They had been married nearly five years, and even after all this time, their love had not waned.
“Mother! Father!” a young voice called out. Soon a young boy of four years came running around the corner, his cheeks red with excitement. “There you are!”
“You have found us again!” Hannah said with a laugh. “Shall we play again?”
“Yes!” The boy bounded back the way from which he had come, and Joseph laughed.
“So, this is how we are able to find time alone?”
She grinned. “It will only work for a short time, so we should find another hiding place if we are to have another kiss.”
They stared at the path that crossed before them.
“Left or right?” he asked.
She pulled one of the coins from her pocket once more and flipped it. “Right,” she said as the image of a sun showed on her arm.
“Was that not what it was the last three times?” he asked suspiciously.
“Your Grace!” she admonished. “I do not approve of cheating, and you know it.”
He gave her a mischievous smile. “Then shall we flip for a kiss?”
“Very well.” She flipped the coin once again.
“The sun again?” he asked. Then he grabbed the coin before she could hide it away. “I thought you did not approve of cheating,” he said as he turned the coin to see the twin image of the sun.
“Not in most cases,” she replied. “However, I am unwilling to take my chances when it comes to receiving a kiss.”
She would have laughed if she had not wanted him to kiss her thoroughly at that moment, which, of course he did, for she had won the toss. No matter how the coin landed, love was destined to win, as it always would.
